Based in Northern Manitoba, we serve communities across Northern Manitoba and Northern Ontario, handling every trade in-house — landscaping, concrete, roofing, framing, excavation, and drainage. The Story of Flip Flop Construction INC.
From St. Vital to Job Sites Across Manitoba
I'm Nick — founder of Flip Flop Construction. I grew up in St. Vital, River Park South. Played hockey with the Dakota Lazers and football for the St. Vital Mustangs. At 14, I was already out in the summers helping my dad build decks and fences — that's where it started.
At 17, I went to Red River College for plumbing. The company I was completing my hours with specialized in general construction, and that's where everything opened up. Framing, concrete, machine operating — I was learning it all and realizing this was where I was headed.
At 21, I took the leap. It was me, a couple of buddies, and a beat-up trailer — doing side jobs on weekends in flip flops and sandals. So I named it exactly what it was: Flip Flop Construction.
A year in, we finished a patio for a buddy's grandpa. My guy Trevor was on that job — he's still on the crew today. I looked at what we built and thought: there's something real here.
Nine years later, Flip Flop is building decks, fences, driveways, cabins, homes, and commercial projects in Winnipeg, across Manitoba and Ontario — with a full in-house crew and not a subcontractor in sight.
Off the Job Site
When I'm not on a job site, I'm on the golf course, out fishing, or at a Bombers or Jets game. I've had Blue Bomber season tickets for five years — there's nothing quite like a home game. I travel when I can and I never miss a family gathering. My auntie will tell you, I've driven ten hours straight from a job site and pulled into Thanksgiving dinner just in time. That's kind of how I operate.
